The itinerary is the following one: Day 1) November 20th 2009 05:00 Hrs. – Departure from Merida and birding around the area of Izamal. 10:00 Hrs. – Breakfast at the village of Chumbech and lecture of the rules for the marathon. 12:00 Hrs. – The bird marathon start. Transfer to the site of Chichen Itza for birding around the area. 19:00 Hrs. – Check in at hotel Meson del Marques in the colonial city of Valladolid. 20:00 Hrs. – Trova night in Valladolid and dinner on your own. Day 2) 21 November 2009 05:00 Hrs. – Departure to the National Park of Rio Lagartos in the coast. Full day birding in this area. Includes two hours boat trip and seafood lunch at noon. 19:00 Hrs. – Return to hotel Meson del Marques in Valladolid, dinner by your own. 20:00 Hrs. – Yucatecan dances festival at Valladolid´s main square. Day 3) 22 November 2009 05:30 Hrs. – Check out and departure to the site of Ek Balam for birding around this site. 10:00 Hrs. – Return to Valladolid and end of the bird marathon. Breakfast and ending ceremony at Zaci Cenote. 12:00 Hrs. – Visit to X´keken Cenote, time to take a swim and birding. 13:45 Hrs. - Arrival to Cenote Ikil near Chichen Itza, free time for a swim again in a Cenote and for birding.
