Calakmul, Birds & Archeology (Pre - Toh 2006 tour) Start: Nov 27, 2006 - 18:00 End: Dec 01, 2006 - 04:00 Four days, three nights trip to southern Uxmal and the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. Maximum 8 participants per van; minimum 6 participants. ITINERARY: Day one: Departure from Merida and transfer to the archeological site of Uxmal for birding in the archeological site. Overnight in hotel Hacienda Uxmal (D) Day two: Transfer to the area of Calakmul and visit the archeological site of Chicanna for birding. At the sunset walk into the jungle to visit the entrance of a bat cave to see owls and other birds that normally hunt bats and other nocturnal animals. Overnight in hotel Ecovillage Chicanna. (B,L,D) Day Three: Full day visit to the archeological site of Calakmul, one of the largest and most important Mayan sites in the area, with many chances for birding. Overnight in hotel Ecovillage Chicanna. (B,L,D) Day four: Return to the city of Merida with stops on the way for birding. Arrival to Merida and end of services.
