21:00. VII Toh Yucatan Bird Festival Educazoo: (Children’s environmental education program) Photographic Exhibits, talks, guided visit to the bird section of the zoo, and a bird drawing workshop. Place: Parque Zoológico El Centenario.

Friday, November 14

00:00 - 00:30. Registration for participants in the bird-a-thon, xoc ch’ich’. * Cost $20.00 USD. Place: Auditorium of the Central Building of the University Autonomous of Yucatan (UADY), corner of Calle 57 & 60, Center.

02:00 - 03:00. Principal Conference “The Impact of Climate Change on Birds and Landscapes” by Dr. Eduardo Santana Castellón of the University of Guadalajara. *Free. Place: Auditorium of the Central Building of the University Autonomous of Yucatan (UADY), corner of Calle 57 & 60, Center.

03:00 - 03:30. Integration of the bird-a-thon -xoc ch’ich- teams Place: Auditorium of the Central Building of the University Autonomous of Yucatan (UADY), corner of Calle 57 & 60, Center.

03:30 - 04:00. Awards ceremony for the bird Photography and Drawing contests. Place: Central Patio of UADY.

13:30 - 01:00. 5:30 a.m. Departure of participating teams in the workshop: Bird Observation for Beginners and registered participants in the xoc ch’ich’ bird-a-thon, for the Eco-archeological Park – Sihunchen, Hunucmá, Yucatan. (45 min. trip). Departure site: Santa Ana Park, Calle 55 x 60, Center. 6:00 a.m. Workshop: Bird Observation for Beginners. * Cost: $27.00 USD. (Breakfast not included in cost.) 10:00 a.m. Breakfast and reading of the bird-a-thon rules. * Cost: $5.00 USD. (See NOTE below). Place: Eco-archeological Park – Sihunchen, Hunucmá, Yucatan. Noon: Teams depart for afternoon birding at location of their choice and spend the night close to where they want to start the bird-a-thon the next morning. NOTE: A delicious breakfast, composed of local specialties, will be prepared by local Maya women and served at a location inside the Eco-archeological Park – Sihunchen, Hunucmá. Payment is made directly to the women.

Saturday, November 15

13:00 - 04:50. Saturday, November 15 5:00 a.m. The bird-a-thon -xoc ch’ich’- begins. 7:00 p.m. The competing teams are expected to spend the night at one of the local hostelries in the area of Uxmal. 8:00 p.m. Sound and Light show (optional). . Place: Archeological zone of Uxmal.

Sunday, November 16

17:00 - 19:45. Sunday, November 16 9:00 a.m. The bird-a-thon -xoc ch’ich’- ends. 9:30 a.m. All bird lists must be turned in. Place: Mision Uxmal Hotel 10:00 a.m. Breakfast (cost included in the registration for the xoc ch’ich’). Place: Mision Uxmal Hotel 11:00 a.m. Awards and closing ceremony.
